Homework

On a weekly basis, we expect the children to complete the following activities.

Reading: At least 3 times per week.

Reading is so important for children, as it helps them to develop their imagination as well as  being exposed to different author's writing styles, which in turn helps them develop their own writing. Reading is the foundation to ALL areas of learning, and it supports them to engage and grow into confident, independent students. Please follow the link below for tips on how to help your child at home with reading.

Reading tips.

As there are so many fabulous books to read, it can be difficult to know what book is best for your child to read. To help you get started I've attached recommended reading lists for both year groups.

Year 3 books and Year 4 books.

Maths: Children will need to either use the White Rose Infinity app (free to download) or use their website: White Rose Infinity to access the weekly quizzes set each week.

                                     Year 3                                                                                                                    Year 4

Times Tables Rockstars: The children are expected to log onto Times Tables Rockstars during the week. Year 3's are focusing on the twos. Year 4's are focusing on the threes, but they need to be secure in ALL times tables by the end of the year, so practise all of them as much as you can.

The Year 4's have also been using songs to help them remember their times tables. Please keep listening at home, as this will help them to know them confidently.

3 times tables, 4 times tables

Hit the Button and Daily 10 are also very useful websites to help with maths skills.

Spellings: The children are expected to log onto Spelling Shed during the week and practise their set spellings. The children are tested on their spellings on Mondays and new spelling will be sent home on the same day.

By the end of Year 4, children should be able to correctly spell the words on the year 3/4 spelling list. Please see the link for this list.
