Koala Class - Year 1

Teacher : Miss Godber

Welcome to Koala Class. In our class we work hard and have fun. Come and see some of our 'koalaty' learning.

Science

In Science, we have been investigating trees and looking for patterns in our data. We found that the taller the tree, the wider the trunk and the shorter the tree, the smaller the trunk.

English

In English, we are using the story 'The Storm Whale' by Benji Davies. To help us understand what it might be like in a stormy sea, we made a boat and weathered the storm. Even Miss Wood came alone for the stormy journey.

Geography

In Geography, we have been making maps of Tattershall, thinking about the different human and physical features we need to include and what symbols we can use to represent them.

First Aid

Koala class have enjoyed learning how to bandage each other as part of our first aid workshops.

Butterflies

We have had caterpillars in the classroom so we can witness the life cycle of a butterfly first hand. Last week we released the now fully grown butterflies into the wild. We also learnt the Makaton sign for butterfly.

Art

In Art we have been exploring using different types of line. We worked together as a class to create a whole class piece of art work using different lines and colours to represent the ocean.

Reading Orchard and World Book Day

What an exciting week in Class 2! The Reading Orchard was opened just in time to celebrate World Book Day.

The children have enjoyed reading some of their favourite stories in the new Reading Orchard.

Design and Technology

During our Design and Technology lessons we explored how to join fabric and then used the story 'Little Red Riding Hood' to make puppets.
