Useful Information
PE days
This term, our PE day is:
Wednesdays
Please ensure children come to school dressed in their PE kit.
PE kit is: a blue t-shirt, black shorts/trousers, a blue jumper/fleece and black trainers. Long hair MUST be tied up and earrings MUST be removed/taped over for health and safety in our PE lessons.

Reading Books
Every child is encouraged to choose a book from our classroom library to enjoy reading at home. Children can read this for as long as it takes them to read it. It can be read to the child, with the child or by the child.
If your child is a fluent reader, this will be the only book they bring home because their Guided Reading book is a chapter books and will be read throughout the term.
If your child is still reading Little Wandle Guided Reading books, they will bring home a second book to practice their reading at home. Please encourage your child to read it as much as possible during the week. This book will be swapped for a new one every Thursday.
Homework
Homework will be set on Fridays and will be glued into your child's reading records. Please make sure your child remembers their Reading Record on Friday.
Usually homework will include:
- Reading as often as possible during the week
- Practising weekly spellings for a spelling test the following Friday. (These are glued inside your child's reading record).
- Practising Maths skills we have been learning in class that week. Scan the QR code on the homework slip or visit White Rose Infinity Maths. (Use the School code and the Quiz code to complete the quiz).
- Practising counting in: 2s and 10s as we begin to learn our times tables.
Occasionally, additional learning questions or craft projects will be offered as optional homework to further explore our school learning. This is not compulsory to complete - only the four above tasks are.
Weekly Spellings
Weekly spellings will be glued into your child's Reading Record on a Friday. Please practice these during the week to help them succeed in their spelling test the following Friday.
Please ensure your child remembers to bring their Reading Record into school on a Friday, so their score from the spelling test can be recorded, and new spellings can be glued in.
Before the Autumn Half Term, children in year 2 were tested on the Year 1 and Year 2 Common Exception words (they are expected to know how to spell these before they enter Year 3).
Please practice any highlighted words on the sheet, to help your child improve their spelling.
If you need any support with how to help your child practice their weekly or termly spellings, please speak to Miss Addison, who will suggest some fun ways to practice spelling at home.
